Baking Powder Biscuits

When I think of breakfast food, one thing that tends to come to mind is biscuits. A fresh biscuit with and egg and cheese or covered with gravy makes an awesome breakfast.

You can throw these together fairly quickly in the morning and have them fresh out of the oven for breakfast. Once you have them mixed up and in the oven, they only bake for 17-20 minutes.

Ingredients
  • 2 Cups Bread Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Stick Cold Butter (salted) + 2 Tablespoons Melted
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Greek Yogurt
  • 1 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream

Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix well.

Add cold butter and cut into the flower until butter chunks are pea size or smaller.

Add Greek yogurt and 1 cup of heavy cream. Mix by hand until combined. Add additional 1/4 cup of cream if needed. Do not over mix.

Move to a generously flowered surface and press/roll to 1 - 1 1/4" thick. Use biscuit cutter to cut biscuits. If you do not have a biscuit cutter, you can use a cup/ring for canning jar/cookie cutter, You will want to dust the cutter with flour so the dough doesn't stick. Place on un-greased baking sheet.

Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 12 minutes. Baste with melted butter.

Bake an additional 5 - 8 minutes or until done all the way through.

Remove from oven and move to a serving platter.

Serve while hot.
